Time Management and Customer Service in 2009
For 2009 we’re all going to have to work a little harder, be a little smarter, and stay at the top of our game all year long. Two of the most important ingredients for success this year are going to be time management and customer service. In a strong economy when customers are beating your door down, it’s a little easier to be sloppy with these skills and the impact of their imperfection when they are not on point. Today that is just not the case. It’s simple really, there are fewer dollars out there to be spent. There are more contractors today competing for the work, and new companies are entering the market as many look for part time work.
But just how does that translate to time management and customer service? Effective time management allows business owners to remain focused on just those tasks directly related to generating new revenue or managing the business. You’ll need to prioritize your tasks and give them weight, so that you perform the most mission critical tasks first. Learn more here and sign up for a free newsletter on time management. Customer service is also extremely important this year, and consumers will be looking for top notch service and service providers they can trust. Look at it this way, businesses of all types are shutting their doors. By delivering excellent service you set yourself apart from the rest, and provide that reassurance so many customers are looking for. If you are a member of the BBB with an excellent record, push it. If you are licensed, tell them, and if you say you’ll call them back at a certain time, well it goes without saying that you better do it. Listen to a customer service podcast while you work.
Have a productive and profitable day!

Good read, Customer service and being on time has made my business. If you manage your time correctly, no matter how busy you are you, get the tasks and the daily work done your customers will notice and recommend your company to other and that what its all about customer retention and gaining new customers
Great read Beth. I have heard time and time again from customers “I cant believe you showed up on time”. That statement blows my mind. How are all of the contractors making so much money they dont need to show up to a customer house?
The answer is that they are not. They just have poor time management skills, and even worse customer service.
My company was praised recently by a prospective customer (now a customer) when we showed up later the same day as he called us. Apparently, he had called 5 other contractors in the 2 weeks prior to finding us and was delighted when we showed up and quoted for the project on the same day.
END RESULT… secured their business and we have received feedback telling us that he would be more than happy to write a testimonial for distribution and will recommend our services to his peers.
